Transistor, one of the components in the world of electronics, is a component that can be used as an amplifier or switch, but if the component is having problems how di i find out?
well, here's how to figure it out.
1. Prepare the multitester, it is suggested that the multitester has FET feature.well, here's how to figure it out.
2. Search the datasheet for the transistor to be tested and find the value of hfe/gains, The main function is to compare the hfe value from the suspected transistor with value from datasheet, the values is not necessary equal to the value from datasheet, but the value is approximate value of the hfe from datasheet, of course, the measurement must be done on the appropriate pin of the transistor.
3. If no datasheet can be found, the pin can be find by searching the collector base and emmiter, do the following :
use the multitester for testing.
(+) Probe is red and (-) probe is black.
- If (+) probed to the base and (-) probed to emitter make the multitester needle move it mean the transistor type is NPN.
- If (-) probed to the base and (+) probed to the emmiter make the multitester needle move it means the transistor is type is PNP.
From collector to emmiter it should not move the multitester needle, except the base is energized with (+) probe or from the batteries, but after previously the 10K resistor is attached into it.
Hopefully the article are helpfull.
